According to the article, his family and relatives are from the South.
That's an excuse. I have family that live in Alaska, that doesn't mean I have their flag plastered everywhere. I've know his type. Trying way to hard too be act like redneck to the point that it is obnoxious. He can do whatever he wants, free speech and all, but that doesn't mean we can't criticize him for being a douche bag.

So to you freedom only means something if you agree with it, right?
I think people who fly the Confederate flag are racists plain and simple. And, yes, people will rail on and on about how it represents states' rights. I think it's just an excuse.
With that being said, people have every right to be racist. I wish this teen success in his suit. (I abhor racism.)
I have never felt the need to have one of these flags, but I do think it is his right to have it on his truck. The ACLU is supporting him. Although I think this kid should sue the school and win, I don't see that happening in a country where students don't even have the right to wear an American flag on their clothing.
Anybody dumb enough to drive around with a confederate flag on their truck deserves to get suspended.
That would still be punishing him for having the flag.
True, but it seems that the school was determined to punish him in some way, and banning the truck gets at the root of what they found to be a "problem".
The student's 1st Amendment rights were clearly violated.
