The lunacy of the Christian fundies knows no bounds. Timberlake Christian School told the grandparents of an 8-year old girl she would not be welcome back because she has short hair, prefers wearing pants, likes baseball cards, and her BB gun. According to the school, she could only return only if "her dress and behavior ... follow suit with her God-ordained identity." No transgender or gay issues here, she knows she is a girl and what that means. When discussing sexuality with a doctor, the grandmother was told she shouldn't worry about that until puberty, to which a school employee told her to find a "Christian doctor".
That's what public school is for. I hope she adjusts well to her new school.

It's funny how liberals like to psychoanalyze conservatives. Shockingly, they always find insecurity at the root. Pretty much everything a conservative does can be traced back to some deep seated fear of minorities. You don't like terrorists? You're Islamophobic. You don't believe black people should be given preference over white people in college entrance? You're afraid of your white privilege eroding. You don't want to pay for other peoples' birth control? You're insecure about independent women. And the fact that their insightful analysis of the situation just happens to coincide fully with their own opposing political philosophy is of course purely coincidence.

Ah, the ever compassionate liberal. You want to live on government aid instead of getting a job, no problem. You want to spend your days in a drug induced haze, no problem. You want to kill unborn children in the womb, no problem. But if you don't want to vote for the same candidate they vote for, then you are psychologically defective. Such heartwarming tolerance.

I don't want to live on government aid, but I understand that some people need help for a time. I don't want to spend my days in a drug induced haze, but I don't have a problem with how others choose to spend their free time. I don't want to kill unborn babies, but I think that a woman is the best person to make decisions about her own life and body. So, any more stupid comments to add to this rant?

I see this as ultimately a win-win.

Sunnie gets to go to a school that doesn't get upset about her possible sexual orientation.

Grandma (or taxpayers, depending on how tuition is paid) gets to save money.

School gets free publicity for their rigidity.

That is a lie - the school sent a letter detailing why the school preferred that she not return.

Quote:
“We love Sunnie and do want the best for her,” Principal Becky Bowman wrote in the letter sent to the Thompsons. “We would miss her presence here, but we do not want her future years be filled [with] confusion and conflicting input from those who are guiding her.”

At the same time, the letter included a paragraph about reserving the right to refuse readmission to a student if the “atmosphere or conduct” within a home is in opposition to “the biblical lifestyle that the school teaches.”

“This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, living in, condoning or supporting sexual immorality; practicing homosexual lifestyle or alternative gender identity; promoting such practices; or otherwise having the ability to support the moral principles of the school.”

...

Parents and guardians send their children to the School because of our Christian beliefs and standards. We have a duty to create an environment that is supportive of these Christian values. We cannot have conflicting messages or standards because such conflict will confuse our students and frustrate the parents and guardians who have entrusted the education of their children to us.
Not only that, but the standards and expectations of the school are made clear before enrollment.

What did she do that violated "Christian values"? You, nor the school, have said how any rules were broken. Is having short hair now an affront to the big guy?

Biblical lifestyle?
What do they do for field trips? Go to weddings and hurl rocks at non-virgin brides until they are dead?

Well, the school is in Lynchburg, ground zero for the Falwell cult.
