The US fractured Iraq and practically gave de facto independence to Iraqi Kurdistan. At least the Russians didn't overthrow the Ukrainian government.

I think perhaps it was more a EU influence versus Russian match on backing who for what. but it was a coup ;not election that overturned the government; your right. Remember that EU placed hash terms on a bailout for Ukraine but Russia didn't so they got the government nod which started the whole thing. Crimea only turned once the government was overthrown and by a vote versus coup.

At the other end you have a US backed coup that took over Ukraine.
And all this only AFTER Ukraine voted to go with Russia over the IMF..
Very sober and truthful view on recent Ukrianian events.

Of Course it can't be compared. The USA blew up the country of Iraq, killed hundreds of thousands of people and then left the country in a far worse condition than it had been before attacking it. Iraq presented no threat, was on the other side of the world from the USA and the entire action was a war crime to the uttermost.

In the case of Russia, they are taking back territory that has been Russian for centuries, the people who live in the Crimea are overwhelmingly in favour of this action. Nothing has been bombed or blown to kingdom come. One or two persons have been killed not one or two hundred thousand! I'D SAY OBAMA IS CORRECT. THERE IS NO COMPARRISON AT ALL.

Two persons were killed - one is an ukrainian soldier and one is a russian. And they both been shot by one sniper. Who wanted to provoke a war between russians and ukrainians?
