The primary is what puts names on the ballot for the general election.
No one other than the person should be choosing a political party on a voter registration form.
If this couple got them I'm sure others did too and I'd wager some just went with the flow and are now Democrats.
Quite underhanded action by the state if you ask me.
And I read they sent out nearly 4 million. What percentage do you think they pre-checked Republican ?
From the article you posted, it sounds like they have already registered and were receiving their registration card which means they are all pre-marked with the party of your choice when you filled out the registration. It is an easy error to correct and not something to freak out about and run to the local news except to get that 15 minutes of fame they were hoping for.
EXACTLY the reason why such a small thing like this is a big deal but the liberals here think its okay...
Went with the flow? If you are a hard core Republican and your voter registration card says you vote Democrat, would you just go with the flow or would you want that corrected? I highly doubt there are Republicans in California voting Democrat because they are going with the flow.

Go back and re-read that article because that is NOT what the couple stated.
They were already registered Republicans and have always voted Republican.
Covered California isn't checking to see if any of their 4 million subscribers are ALREADY REGISTERED to vote.
The question is who in the CA government marked those cards because that is a violation of election law.
The couple went to the MSM because Covered California sent them to the State and the State sent them back to Covered California.

It wasn't the registration card..it was the application for the registration card.
So are they already registered and receiving their registration cards or do they need to register and are filling out a registration?
Covered California is sending out voter registration applications to all 4 million of their subscribers without checking to see if they are already registered to vote.
Total waste of money if you ask me but they were threatened to be sued by the League of Women Voters if they didn't because that's a mandate of Obamacare.

Yes that does sound like a waste of money, as well as something easy for these people to correct. Not really newsworthy.
I don't know about their registration form, every time I have registered to vote none of the boxes have been marked. Are they incapable of getting a new registration form?
Probably.
