BRUNSWICK, Ga., Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Police in Brunswick, Ga., said a man was fatally shot in the head by a gun that went off after being picked up by a 35-month-old child.

The Brunswick Police Department said Curtis Gabriel Collins was shot at a recording studio when the child grabbed the loaded gun from a table, WJXT-TV, Jacksonville, Fla., reported Thursday.

The firearm went off, and Curtis, who was sitting on a nearby sofa, was shot in the head, the report said. He was rushed to a local hospital, but doctors determined that he could not be revived.

That's still under investigation.

One obvious question is what are the sentencing guidelines for an assailant under 10 years old. The kid knew that it was a gun (from watching lots of TV), wanted to pick it up, and evidently understood where the trigger was and then pulled it. Reckless endangerment case (third-degree murder?), a slam dunk for the prosecutor.

if that man had been carrying a loaded weapon in his hand before the toddler shot him, he might have shot the toddler first

we need to pass a law that says every man women and child over the age of 12 needs to be carrying a loaded weapon in their right hand at all times

Conservatives would want to execute the boy for murder. A jury in Texas actually sentenced an obvious mentally ill man to death. If mental illness would not stop them nothing will.

The only obvious solution to the problem of children obtaining firearms, as expressed in the manifesto that describes the historical nature and ultimate progression of economic systems, is the abolition of the family and the beginning of communal nursery cooperatives, in order that the will of the proletariat may be served to a greater extent, as much happen as the progression of history shall show, bourgeoisie reactionaries and reformists! If a child were raised in such a place he would then know the truth of his oppression, and therefore would not attack his fellow comrade in such a manner.

That loaded handgun sitting on the table was ABSOLUTELY HARMLESS and POSED NO RISK to anyone in the vicinity. It was entirely the TODDLER'S FAULT that another life was lost to handgun crime. He/She knew what to do with that gun, just sitting there, because it's on the TV 14 hours a day at least.

Please, everyone within the sound of my transmitted bitstream let that prosecutor in that county know that we as gun-loving citizens expect him/her to uphold the law of the land swiftly and with utmost prosecutorial vigor. And THROW THAT TODDLER IN THE CLINK FORTHWITH AND IMMEDIATELY, WITH NO BAIL (but perhaps with Cocoa Crispies privileges after 90 days of good behavior).
