And what if you are a business owner in this district who does not want fall under this official designation? If I owned a French restaurant in one of these areas having it deemed an El Salvadorian corridor would do nothing but hurt my business.

I agree with that 100%. Besides anybody that says there isn't ethnic places in Los Angeles is kidding themselves. We have Little Armenia (not even in Glendale) China Town, Korea Town (K-Town) Olivera St, etc. Then there are the places that are definitely ethnic but without the fancy names. For instance Glendale has a strong middle eastern influence. In LA there is areas with a lot of Japanese businesses. SGV is all about being Asian.
The start? Not hardly, the process has been going on for decades. It started when liberals, with their slavish devotion to social engineering, decreed that "Diversity" and "Muti Culturism" was good for the nation instead of the disaster that it has turned out to be.
This is why I'm really apprehensive about immigrants. I believe in assimilation. Not multiculturalism.
