I'm impressed with their words. The economy should be built from the bottom up. How that plays with the base, who repeat propaganda like, "a poor man never gave me a job," remains to be seen.
Rebranding - the simple act of changing the name you call yourself - is useless, obviously. It's the kind of thing Democrats do, such as their current attempts to change from "liberal" to "Progressive" that has been going on for some years now, as they attempt to fool people into believing they aren't the leftist fanatics they have shown themselves to be.
If Republicans change what they are DOING - such as swearing off their big-spending ways and new entitlements of the GWB years and, for starters, balancing the budget, then that may actually do some good. And if they do it, then they might start building their base back up. Most Americans are conservative, and genuine conservatism coming out of the Republican party would be a welcome change.
In other words, old-line Republicans need to either change their ways or retire. And TEA party Republicans - especially who will hold the line against both taxes AND spending, as well as stopping the govt micromanaging that explodes the Federal Register every year - are in a prime position to lead the way.
The leftists will scream their usual insults and lies ("racists", "religious zealots", and such tripe) at the TEA party folks, of course, as usual. But that hasn't held the TEA party back in the past, and shouldn't now.

My status reflects poorly on your argument .
Progressivism and Liberalism are not one in the same, You would never in your life put Elizabeth Warren in the same ideology as Dick Durbin.

I think most Americans have values that cross more than one ideology.
As for the Republican Party, If one of them actually had a plan that would cut taxes and balance the budget without getting rid of essential services, then The People would be all for it. But no one has put forth a plan that even resembles that.
