The best way to reduce the likelihood of another attack is to mind our own business. US people and contractors who choose to spend time in the Middle East are on their own. We won't negotiate, pay ransom and we won't send in Special Forces to try and save your butt.

But too many interests and US jobs are dependent on the federal government funding of defense spending for that to happen.

maybe we should have mind our own business during WW 2 and the cold war......the world would have look very different today, don't you think?

isolation is not the solution.

Was it terrorism for Lincoln to choke the south to make them quit?

define terrorism?......these people are not innocent civilians. They are high rank terrorist leaders who declared war on the U.S......this is fair game. This is war.
Torture is against the Geneva Convention. UN Convention Against Torture

By degrading our honor through the savage torture of prisoners, we will only give extremists a further conviction. Torture is a very ignorant tactic.

The idea that the military might be used for secret 'black operations' abroad is nothing new. The idea that CIA used interrogation techniques shouldn't be a surprise.

Black Operations are necessary when the the fallout or consequences from the action may detrimentally affect those authorizing the action to take place.

Military branches all over the world have black ops, although black ops typically are involved with activities that are highly secret due to questionable ethics and legality.

"Former soldier Paul Bruce's book The Nemesis File, for example, purports to detail a British Army execution squad in Northern Ireland. Far from imposing a rule of law, the British government, claims the author, secretly authorized a programe of executions of Irish Republican suspects known as 'Shoot To Kill'. Bruce's book even has colored maps with an 'X marks the spot' where the victims' bodies were said to be buried in unmarked graves."

Why former 'Black Ops.' SAS sleep with a gun under their pillow ? RT Op-Edge

People's lives will be in danger if politicians and drama queens cannot keep the big mouth shut.

The question is would you be in favor or not.

That article means nothing relating to the hypothetical that I stated.
It won't period. Intelligence is better gained by spies who infiltrate the people in question.

I suppose having your local mall blown up with your baby in the buggy is not a problem for you....
The torture sanctioned by the Bush administration did not end the war on terror now did it?

Did you even bother to read the Convention?

Quote:
For the purposes of this Convention, torture means any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity. It does not include pain or suffering arising only from, inherent in or incidental to lawful sanctions.

who said this war was going to be won in 10 years?.......it might take 35 years or 50 years but the purpose of war is to destroy the enemy or make them quit.

again, if you have a better way to deal with our enemies let us know.....obviously the Obama tactics are not working.

I have to love democrats/liberals......waterboarding and making terrorists leaders uncomfortable is torture and not ok but using DRONES to kill them from the sky which is Obama's favorite tactic is ok???? ....make up your minds!!!.....lol

Well, Do you believe these prisoners are POWs? They are categorized as unlawful combatants.

"Unlawful combatants have always posed a unique threat to opposing forces and a danger to civilians who risk being mistaken for guerrilla fighters. Through World War II, international law permitted armies to deal harshly with unlawful combatants, even allowing them to be shot after capture.

Before the recent war in Afghanistan, few had heard of the term "unlawful combatant." Most heard it for the first time when the Bush administration announced its decision to classify as unlawful combatants captured Taliban and al-Qaeda soldiers. While the term may appear new, the concept of unlawful combatants, expressed in a variety of ways, has been around for as long as there have been laws of war"

We are at war people!....against extremists that will behead and blow up every American if they get a chance. I won't lose any sleep if the CIA authorized water boarding and made these killers who are high rank leaders uncomfortable. This is nothing in what they do to their prisoners and democrats and U.S. haters are making a big drama about nothing.
"liberals and the far left will always paint the U.S. AS EVIL and part of the problem. They did it to our military during Nam, they are doing to our police and now the CIA."

That's the position they always have taken since the 70s: Their take on it has always been 'The US is bad', 'Everyone else is good' or at least they get the benefit of doubt, even Terrorist. FDR and even JFK were Hawks compared to true Liberals. FDR didn't care about collateral damage. They Firebombed Dresden and Tokyo without regard to the Civilian population.

At least with true liberals you know where they fall. They actually hold Obama accountable as Bush for his actions. In this case our involvement in Libya, Syria and the use of drones and cruise missile against enemy combatants with the resulting collateral damage. With the current administration and liberals in Congress you don't know what they’re going to do next.
