In 2008 the NRA came out with this:
Quote:
The NRA is circulating printed material and running TV ads making unsubstantiated claims that Obama plans to ban use of firearms for home defense, ban possession and manufacture of handguns, close 90 percent of gun shops and ban hunting ammunition.
|
, a claim which FactCheck labelled as false.
However in 2009, a shooter wearing a shot-resistant vest killed three policemen in Pittsburgh, repeating the false claim he feared that:
Quote:
"the Obama gun ban that's on the way" and [he] "didn't like our rights being infringed upon,"

Conservatives never seemed willing to criticize the NRA for it really reckless and false rhetoric. In this case I feel it directly led to the killing of the policemen. However, this incident never was really trumpeted in the liberal, mainstream media.
I remember all this as a liberal gun owner, a hunter and someone who is anti-NRA.
