Technology has been eliminating tens of millions of jobs, all along. Technology has been creating new sectors and jobs, all along, too.

Does the former manufacturing worker have an aptitude and skills for new jobs?

Is the former manufacturing worker in a geographical area where there are new jobs?

Or, does the former manufacturing worker choose to stay planted in a geographical area with an economy highly dependent on government? handouts?

What nation is willing to subsidize the US middle class by paying more for " Made in the USA" when they can buy the same thing from an emerging economy for substantially less?

How many U.S. people are willing to pay more for stuff made in the USA?
Correct. And it's not just manufacturing. In the insurance industry, productivity improvements due to investment in technology has eliminated thousands of jobs. Airlines too. Remember the days when there were no self service kiosks?

Useless government regulation is not the only problem with job growth, but it certainly is part of the problem. Starting a business from scratch is difficult even without useless government regulations.

Nobody (but you) suggested that we have no regulations.

OK, so now there are two posters on this thread that suggest ending all regulations. You and middle age mom.

Why do you think there should be no regulations? Nobody is advocating "no government". Why is it an "all or nothing" matter with you two?

We have millions of government regulations and a huge number of them only add to costs or preserve the establishment rather than help consumers.
