Some seem to think the Bundys deserved this and that they're lucky this is all that happened. People have no idea this can happen in their backyard, also!

Seems like some believe wasteland should remain just that dirt, nobody wants it until someone wants it.

The public should be told the names of those responsible. Dont the people ever tire of excuse like "they were just doing what they were told"? Agencies didnt destroy this families property, individuals did and they should be held accountable.

I'd like to know why they shot the bulls, although I'm sure we all know!

Just more propaganda so that bundy can act like he is a victim instead of the deadbeat lawbreaker that he is.
But who is going to debunk Snopes? They've been known to get it wrong quite often.

Bundy is the LAST rancher in the area, which gives merit to the charge that the Federal government has been clearing that area for more than just turtles.

Why would they send an army and use blatant force and intimidation? The cost of their effort was higher than the $1.2M they claim Bundy owes.

Why did Reid inject the "It's not over" threat? Why did Rory Reid follow the same meme on local TV?

Things do not add up.

Well, there have been 3 years of droughts and that's the desert. In the 80's Nevada ranches ran about a million head of cattle. Last year that went down to under 350k because of consecutive years of drought and the subsequent impact on forage and water. Ranchers that could afford it moved their herd, ranchers that couldn't sent them to slaughter. This was widely covered well before one deadbeat rancher became the issue du jour and all of the sudden people cared about ranching.

There is still ranching in Nevada. The annual Nevada Cattlemen Association meeting draws a few thousand people. This is a part of the country where grazing allotments are hundreds of thousands of acres. So you'd have to define 'area' to say that there are no other ranchers in the 'area'.

What would the government be clearing the area for? Because of the turtles and other protected species, nothing can be built there. A project would not make it past the environmental impact statement phase of permitting. I can't even count how many projects in the desert that environmental issues have killed.

Accurately, no one thought "hey, Bundy is a reasonable guy and cows all conveniently hang out in one spot on a massive grazing range and will follow you if you ask them to".

Bundy would have owed $1.1M fees if he had theoretically paid the permit fees over the years and not exceeded the head of cattle that he would have been permitted to graze there (which he did). Per a 1998 permanent injunction issued by the US District Court for Nevada against Bundy, he also owed a penalty of $200 per head of cattle per day that he grazed on the Bunkerville allotment after the effective date of the injunction. Those penalties have crested $600 million.

He's never going to pay any of that. He's been in flagrant violation of the law for twenty years and has lost two court battles. At some point, enough is enough, and it has to end. I would argue that $600m+ and two decades is more than a lenient line to draw.

Because they've been nice and used the civilized methods of court orders, subpoenas etc. Bundy wouldn't let them be nice.

Because it's not over. You can't ignore the law just because you have friends with guns, and that goes whether you're a biker gang or a rancher. Bundy will be discreetly taken into custody, he will lose, and you and your ilk will scream with outrage about police state methods.

My homeland's anarchists like squatting on other people's properties, getting into police confrontation and claim they're unjustly persecuted just because they use property that isn't theirs. (The main difference is, they don't have firearms.) They too think tolerance is weakness, they too fail to understand just how uneven the fight actually is, they too fail to understand that the machinery grinds slowly (but finely) and they too think that if they just establish a pattern of illegal behavior, eventually it becomes their right.

This is exactly what we have seen with Bundy. This is not over!

What is a parking meter?

Don't tell me, you have to pay to park your truck?
Do they wash it, shoe it and feed it, like the livery stable does?
