Yeah, nothing insane about starting a nuclear war and killing all life on Earth over a jet buzzing a destroyer.

Some Russian official said they would reduce the US to radioactive waste if they intervened. Probably just tough talk, but still.

That would have sent a strong signal to Putin that we mean business and won't allow a threat to put our crews in jeopardy. What the Russians are doing is taunting putative president Obama, something that would never have happened in this situation under Reagan, Bush 1 and 2 or even if Palin was president. They are making this putative president look extremely weak on the international scene and it is a utter embarrassment to us all. In 2016 we need a strong pro-military president who will use common sense and take a strong stance on agression around the world when peaceful nations are threatened by hardline goverments.]
Well, we can certainly agree that there is much that should cause utter embarrassment in the OP, anyway.

There are a lot of hot heads in this country right now.

They are either really angry about Russia or really angry about who our President is. I wonder....

No one wants to go to war Period, but as they say chit happens! that said, no we do not want to go to war. However I have to doubt at all that Putin is testing the water, he knows that we are weaker then ever, so see how far he gets.

He knows Obama, is all talk! Period.

Under those circumstances no sane president would have given an order to shoot down that jet.

That seems silly to want a president to order a plane to be shot down just because it buzzed over a ship.

Can you imagine the enraged outcry from the rightwing if that had happened? C-D wouldn't be able to contain their outrage. And for once, I would have agreed with them.

As it is, this thread is just another excuse to bash the president. YAWN!

OP is confusing a real life situation versus a video game scenario.
