It's not surprising that an uninformed population will vote for someone because she's a woman, or because he's black. Those are not qualifications for the office.

In fact, voting for somebody because he's black is reverse discrimination. Same with voting for a woman for that reason alone: it's a woman.

Maybe we really DO deserve the government we have. Voters should meet some basic level of a grasp of the issues before they are allowed to come near a ballot. Voting is not only a right, it is a responsibility.

The serious voter will not be taken in by image but should look for qualities of leadership and integrity. Now, that projects a powerful image.

There's really no reason people on the left can't vote for someone with these qualities.
