A lot of folks here are all about "if we cut off unemployment those people will actually go find work". They have a mistaken belief that the reason our unemployment is what it is is because of unemployment being available. This of course is insane to anyone who spends some time thinking instead of repeating slogans they hear on the radio.

So 538's got a early look at the data (and to be fair they say its too early to be completely conclusive, but its VERY consistent with other research on the topic):
Losing Benefits Isn’t Prodding Unemployed Back to Work | FiveThirtyEight

This of course shouldn't be a surprise, unemployed people do not spontaneously create jobs just because they want one. Many here have pointed at a earlier experiment where a state stopped their unemployment as a great success, and their resulting unemployment rate went down-ignoring the reality that the total employed in the state didn't change.

LOL oh look.. taxing the so called rich didn't help people find work. In fact it did the opposite and now UE has become another form of welfare. Liberal policies failed!

Let them starve. After all, Obummer tells us everyday how many jobs are out there and unemployment is dropping.

Don't work then don't eat and find a good bridge to live under. A couple days of that and a job looks pretty good.

Here is what would help people find work... the existence of jobs.

Neither Democrats nor Republicans have even the slightest shred of a clue how to create them.

Obama is also planning to add up to 30 million foreigners to the legal labor pools, anyone coming here illegally won't have to pick lettuce but instead take all those new jobs being created.

Illegals are having no trouble finding jobs, remittances to their countries are WAY up.

Government doesn't create jobs, it only gets in the way of job creation. It isn't governments responsibility to create jobs for people, it's bizarre how many people expect Big Brother to hold their hand and provide everything for them.

So far the responses have made me kinda worry about humanity. Lets see we've got:
Thanks Obama! (You DO know he's just a president and anything that would fix this has to come up through our currently GOP blockaded congress and senate right?)
Let them starve! (uhmmm OK aren't you folks just great people.)
Its part of a plot by Obama to bring in 30 million illegals! (again he is a president, he signs bills brought up by.....the congress and senate.....you know this right? Right?)
Taxing the rich is bad! (you do know everyone pays into unemployment insurance right? And this has little to do with taxing the horrifically overtaxed rich? Oh wait...they aren't taxed horribly badly at all.)

and one sane response:

Maybe jobs would help as opposed to inflation.
