Why wouldn't parts of the state secede because large cities get a say in governor and they don't? Why wouldn't private home owner single family secede from the city because an apartment building is a bigger voting bloc? It is a meaningless question. There are always going to be more people somewhere. What the majority of people favor wins.
You can start from school board to city council to mayor to state house to congressman to Governor to Senator. All these people were picked by the majority of people (essentially). The commander and chief however, that should be done with a system that disenfranchises half of the country. Not that one side wins the other side loses. But one side gets more votes, so none of the lesser votes are even tallied. Winner-take-all in each state (except two). All in order to weight less populous areas.
Romney got 4,555,799 votes in Texas in 2012. Obama got 3,294,440. 3,294,440 votes did not count towards electing the president in Texas -- Romney got all 38 EVs. It is a fact that citizens can't vote for a president. They are just voting for their state's EVs. Most people don't know this. But it is a bad system. And the only people in favor of it are modern day apartheidists who would rather gerrymander their way to a victory instead of offering a platform that the majority of american citizens will support.
They start rebelling when the costs of belonging become too high.
Like when the colonists rebelled when the taxes the British were imposing seemed to be more than the benefits the British were supplying.
When people feel like they don't have a voice in their government, then all the problems they have with that government become magnified, and all the benefits become minimized. If their disenfranchisement becomes systematic, you end up with people wanting to separate from the government.
And most people do know about the electoral college. That's what EVERY single television channel focuses on on election night. Your assumption that other people are stupid is unfounded.
And the electoral college is a good system. I'm no "apartheidist". I think the race card is stupid to even bring up in this discussion, since race isn't an issue in the electoral college. The divide is rural versus urban.

Dont like Texas? And the fact your vote is worthless? Move back to the liberal city you came from.
Also just because you dont get your way can stomp your feet and call us names does not change the fact this will never happen....
No on can compete with the message of "vote for me, I will give you something for free and make those mean guys with money over their pay for it"
So renounce your citizenship and move to a country that has the political system you want. We use the electoral college in this nation, and for good reason.
Again, a majority of Americans are in favor of doing away with the antiquated system established to place America under a system of elitist rule. Of course, just as their aprtheidist ideology drives them to ignore the will of the people, the minority forces the electoral college to stay in existence.

I've always thought this was a horrible argument.
The whole idea of "Well if you don't like it go somewhere else!"
How about "If you don't like it, work actively to change it".

Don't be scared, progress is coming.
The majority of Americans are......people who live in cities. Why wouldn't they support doing away with a device that's designed to give people who don't live in cities a voice? And please stop playing the race card in this discussion. You know it has no place in the discussion.

You ever notice its ok for leftist to want to be separate but the moment we bring up the idea we are the bad guys?
They are just mad they are nothing winning and they have to lie, cheat, and stack the deck in order to win...
EXCEPT THEY DO. That's one of the reasons for the electoral college. TO BALANCE the Urban Effect that is a natural function of democracies. Duh!
"Urban Effect". That's cute. Why should a person's vote be worth less, based on where they live? <wink, wink>
