Will not make any difference what country is referred too when it comes down to the little kiddies as they are all indoctrinated into whatever the country believes in.....just follow what little Mary (name choice) is saying and you will fit right in. After a while it becomes second nature.
Well it excludes polytheistic religions straight off right? It says under God not under The Gods. So already you're alienating some Hindu kid just trying to go to school. You're preferring monotheistic religions over polytheistic right there.
A Hindu has no problem speaking of "God" in the singular. Nor would any pagan who worshiped a single selected god of his choosing.

"One nation indivisible" seems to have been forgotten by all those who are promoting breaking up the United States right now, and all those who are calling for civil war.
If we are going to quarrel about a a pledge of fealty to our nation, and to the flag that represents it, I think the current disregard of the above phrase is what needs to be discussed most. "under God" isn't anything but a minor expression of American exceptionalism.
We like to think we have some kind of special relationship with the Creator, but the truth is, The United States acts exactly in the same ways ever other powerful nation on Earth acts, or has acted in the past. Our only difference is we seem to be uncomfortable with accepting what all the others openly acknowledge.

Kids will be praying in school as long as there are tests to take.
We can sit back and blah blah blah all day long about how the pathetic little public education system recites the pledge to our mighty country but when the kids do a "Meet me at the pole" they pray for the whole school. EVERYONE.
You're so worried about "under God" being in the pledge. But you don't give a care about using God's name as a curse word. One day we will all be held responsible for every thought in our head. We better be sure of what we're thinking.
Yes, this is how the radical left legislates..through lawsuits...when they know the vote won't go in their favor. Once again they want to remove any and all vestiges of religion, specifically Christianity, from the public sphere. The "United States of the Offended. It doesn't matter that they don't have to say the pledge or the words "under God". It's all about how the children "feel" (actually it's probably how the parents feel) for other children reciting the whole pledge. Again, nowhere in our constitution do the words "separation of church and state" appear. In fact it states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". Or, to quote the legal institute "Two clauses in the First Amendment guarantee freedom of religion. The establishment clause prohibits the government from passing legislation to establish an official religion or preferring one religion over another. It enforces the "separation of church and state."(note: their quote) Some governmental activity related to religion has been declared constitutional by the Supreme Court. For example, providing bus transportation for parochial school students and the enforcement of "blue laws" is not prohibited. The free exercise clause prohibits the government, in most instances, from interfering with a person's practice of their religion". So how is saying the pledge of allegiance all of a sudden preferring one religion over another? But this doesn't seem to matter to those who create their own reality...
