I can never follow the mentally twisting circuitous routes that people take to somehow magically over the past 50 years blame everything on "Political Party A" and in the same breath praise to high heavens "Political Party B". Me?=Gooder, everyone over there?=Badder. Monkey pounds on keyboard.
Let's see here, the poor pay no federal income tax (well, nearly half the country pays no federal income tax), and the very rich get so many tax breaks that they pay a lower rate than most of the middle class, and you think the answer is to raise taxes on the middle class?
"Hey, we're almost out of gas."
"Well, pour the rest out and we'll be fine."
The poor get it free and the rich can afford it. The middle class is left to pay the bills.
I'm not an economics expert but I always thought some of the more stable countries in Europe such as Germany, France and the UK had a broader and more prominent middle class.
I'd like to mention that the NY Times wrote a much more in-depth article that the one that the OP posted. In no way am I trying to offend the OP, I just feel that this one has some graphs and has more information to offer.NY Times - The American Middle Class Is No Longer the World’s Richest
Of course not, because of conservative politics and Reaganomics over the past 3 decades. Yet, they still think austerity and tax cutting is the way to go.
wow. I thought I heard the most outrageous thing in the world earlier today when my 6 year old declared that she was Batman.
If we want to go back to being the leader of middle class folks, I suggest we follow other countries and do a free-market system.

I'm not offended, I'm more interested in learning about the topic. If you have a better source, then congrats to you and me since I'm learning.
Most of the poor still have to pay property and sales taxes, tolls and other fees that are still considered revenue to their state or local governments.
Are the low property taxes paid by the poor enough to cover services? If they are, then the property taxes paid by the middle class should be capped to what the cost of services are. Do you agree? If so, why do you feel the government is overtaxing the middle class?

Where did you get this $22.75 amount?
