I wouldn't doubt that there are some highly decorated former military in the BLM teams that were there. Real military men that hand guns pointed at them.

Yeah, these are a real bunch of real, upright American citizens. They think they are a combating a police state......by setting up their own police state.

There is a very recent development.
The Burning Man organizers just got a permit to hold a similar event on BLM land across the road from the Bundy ranch. They plan to throw a party very soon.

Burning Man is a huge annual art festival that takes place in the Black Rock desert northeast of Reno. It draws 50,000 people every year, and more would come, but the organizers capped the tickets at 50,000 in 2011. The event is held on Labor Day, but the event across the road from the Bundy place could be held at any time.

For those who haven't heard of Burning Man, here's full info:
Burning Man :: Welcome Home

Essentially, it's a whopping big party that lasts for a week. A city springs up, an enormous human figure is constructed, lit on fire, and then everything and everyone goes away, leaving no trace they were ever there. Thousands of artisans of all kinds come, thousands of artists, musicians, general merry-makers from all over the nation and the world, and clothing is optional, along with sexual orientation, politics, and everything else. The last burning man could be seen from space.

Somehow, I tend to think Bundy and his little bunch of yahoos aren't going to like the new party very much. Since Burning Man has been going and growing since 1986, the odds are this new event could easily become another yearly draw as a lead-up to the big one.
Who knows? It may become even bigger, as the access is easier. The BLM property has a highway running along it's border, but Burning Man does not. And since Burning Man has now topped out, it's very possible that at least 10,000 (or more) folks could show up for this new event.

It's a BundyFest to mock Bundy.

"Some of the organizers of the annual Burning Man festival are planning an event aimed at mocking the claims of a Nevada rancher who refuses to pay government-mandated fees for using federal lands.

“For years, we paid permitting fees to hold Burning Man on the beautiful Playa in Northern Nevada,” said the event’s organizers on a Facebook page. “But now, Cliven Bundy has shown us a NEW WAY! ABSOLUTE FREEDOM! Bundy has declared the entire area surrounding Bundy Ranch as a TOTALLY RULES-FREE ZONE! ANYTHING GOES! WOO-HOO!!!”

It's all fun and games until one of those nutjobs shoots himself in the foot. Or someone else in the butt.

The duly elected government, of course. The problem for the Bundyites is that they think they're George Washington. They're not. They are the Whiskey Rebels, and if George Washington had been alive and in charge today, their stand would have lasted as long as it would have taken to move an armored battalion to Nevada.
