Why do some Democrats require this "pro-business" qualifier? This also is not a partisan thing as Democrats have often referred to themselves as "pro-business." Does pro-business assume, then, that there are anti-business Democrats? Why would any Democrat be anti-business? Why aren't there "pro-business" republicans?

Its a label, like pro-life and pro-choice, even though there are very few people who agree that abortion should be completely banned in all cases or completely legal in all cases.
The label separates you from others, thats it. Its moronic.
I always thought it was because the GOP successfully tarred Democrats as "anti-business," the same way they convinced the public at large that "Liberal" translated to "godless unpatriotic vermin" starting in Reagan's day. So Dems, who used to suck at managing PR, were forced to label themselves "pro-business" to counter that narrative once it was established, instead of fighting back right from the start.
Some of the questions are borderline 'false dilemma' for me. For example, I'm all for legalization of drugs, but not if the taxpayer is required to underwrite the health care costs caused by drug use. Given that we are, I voted no to legalization.

I'm very pro-capitalism... but as soon as I advocate for more fair taxation, a better minimum wage, and tighter environmental regulations.. I get brained an anti-business, socialist, Marxist, communist, Obama-backing, <insert insult>.
St. Reagan just destroyed this country in so many ways. That man truly left a legacy for future generations
