That would be a meaningful observation if we also knew it when the statements were made.

It wasn't, so it's not.

Kinda hard to make that claim when it was the Intelligence Community that provided the talking points.

And, again, Morell already admitted to editing the talking points to exclude the CIA's actual assessment.
What we know from testimony and evidence produced is that the characterization of that attack as spontaneous existed prior to any involvement by Morell. Morell did edit the talking points, but he didn't add the characterization of the attack as spontaneous and inspired by Cairo. Those assessments pre-date Morell's edits.

Morell's testimony.
These officers then coordinated the talking points outside CIA, again
without the presence of a CIA substantive expert.
They sent the talking
points to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the FBI,
the State Department (which had lost officers in the attack), and the National
Security Staff (NSS), which needed to be aware of points to be made by
members of Congress about a serious national security issue. At this point, I
had not yet seen the talking points, nor was I even aware of their existence.

I will describe my personal role with regards to the talking points below.

The email used to coordinate with those outside the CIA has been produced. It contained the talking points prior to any edits by Morell or the White House. It said among other things:

We believe based on currently available information that the attacks in Benghazi were spontaneously inspired by the protest at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and evolved into a direct assault against the U.S. Consulate and subsequently its annex.

I know these are very inconvenient facts to those who think that this was all made up by the White House for the benefit of Obama's election chances. But facts are facts. Susan Rice's comments were consistent with the unclassified CIA talking points prior to any edits by Morell or the White House.

The House of Representatives passed the resolution to form a Select Committee on Benghazi - it's a done deal.
The purpose of this Select Committee is to gather ALL the information that was attained by four committees, 13 congressional hearings, 50 briefings, five reports, 25,000 pages of documentation (and that's only in the House) into ONE Committee and hopefully put an end to the Investigations that have often been like Circus sideshows. There will be only 12 members and the Chairman will have more latitude that the separate "committees" that often had up to 30 members with a time limit of only 5 minutes for any questioning.

It's silly to argue against this Committee, because it's already a "fact" .... and "facts are facts". It's going forward.
It didn't have to happen, the White House, State Department, CIA, National Security Council and Department of Justice could have just complied with Committee subpoenas and not either withheld or sent totally redacted documents ..... BUT, they didn't do that. An outside group was able through the Courts to get information that was withheld from Congressional Committees - that alone is reason enough to turn this over to one group to figure out what has been going on.

Democrats now have a couple of choices -
1. Boycott the Select Committee
2. Join the Select Committee and do everything they can to keep it from fact finding.
3. Join the Select Committee - demand answers to the questions and put this thing to bed.

#3 is not happening - Democrats and the White House are clearly in a Panic about the Select Committee
You can't help but wonder ..... why is that? Facts are Facts - why be so afraid of "facts" coming to light OR finding out that there are no more "facts" to discover? Why the Panic? Why the Fear?

What would lead you to hallucinate that was the argument?

Your three option assume that the Committee intends to perform a honest investigation.

You are being naive.

The Libyan official knew it. He stated so on the same show Susan Rice spewed the ridiculous Obama Admin 'blame the video' lie.

You're not really asking us to believe that the Libyan government is FAR more competent than the Obama Admin, are you?

Actually, maybe you are. The Obama Admin really could be that incompetent.

Excuse me - but the Democrats also approved of that war after seeing the intel from the British. This was not a one sided decision as many of Obama's policies and mishaps have been. We had significant intel and data that WMD were there and a threat. I've done a lot of research on this as no war is acceptable to me if it doesn't threaten our country. The problem with most democrats is they fail to look outside the US media which is liberal and see what worldwide news is broadcasting. There is no longer truth in media.

There are only I believe 6 corporations that control the media today vs 50 back in 1983.

"The six corporations that collectively control U.S. media today are Time Warner, Walt Disney, Viacom, Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., CBS Corporation and NBC Universal. Together, the "big six" absolutely dominate news and entertainment in the United States. When you control what Americans watch, hear and read you gain a great deal of control over what they think. They don't call it "programming" for nothing. "

That is why democrats need to look to outside sources to see what the truth really is. All we're getting are canned rhetoric from every station. They're just reading from a script. They're not reporting. Even Fox doesn't always tell the whole story.

Where is all the outrage for the treatment of veterans at VA hospitals, more have died due to neglect waiting for healthcare than Benghazi, but we have not had one hearing. Seems like the GOP priorities are misplaced considering all the problems we have in our country. It was reported that around 40 veterans died waiting for healthcare, that is deserving of their attention.
