“There’s no other country that looks like us. It’s a huge gift,” he said Thursday night in San Jose at an event hosted by Marissa Mayer, chief executive of Yahoo, and Sam Altman, president of YCombinator. “The problem is that we’ll waste that gift if we don’t make the right choices.”
The "right choice" of course, to Obama, is to elect Democrats. Do you think the President cares about America otherwise? Hell no. As a partisan hack, he see's his Agenda and his legacy in tatters. That's the only reason he gives a crap about America in decline.

The president rejected the idea that America was in decline, but he said it could happen if the right steps weren’t taken to invest in the economy.

“What is absolutely true is if we don’t make good choices, we could decline,” Obama said.
I have to disagree with the President. America is already in decline, and socialist Democrats have absolutely no plan whatsoever to stop that decline. In fact, they relish the thought of an America who no longer lifts itself up by the bootstraps, but relies on an ever-expanding Big Government and an Agenda to take more of your hard-earned money to make us more reliant on that Big Government.

Yes, "could" is a misnomer.
It IS in a decline and the various government numbers back that up.

Over 50% of births are paid for by medicaid.
Over 70% of schoolchildren qualify for free/reduced lunch
56% of US schools receive Title 1 funding.

We're turning into a 2 class system..the wealthy and the middle class.
The poor are described by the MSM as the "struggling middle class" who work min wage jobs and raise families.

The biggest expenditure of our money goes to social welfare programs (when you add them all up).
And all these programs have upped their qualifications where they start at 133% of FPL rather than FPL.

More and more people cannot live in the US on their own money.

But we'll just ignore the data trend.

I noticed you didn't include all the tax subsidies to corporations in your stats.

Actually, it's the wealthy and the poor. The middle class is disappearing.

What do you propose we do about it?

Did he add that no matter what happens to the U.S., he, his wife, and his daughters will be okay?

You nailed it.

Anytime there is a discussion of the statistics you mention, all we get from liberals is the same demagogueing we always get....the type of demagogueing that is celebratory in nature......celebrating that tax dollars are being paid to help those in need instead of actually asking the question of "why are so many people so helpless?" They scoff at the notion of a nation in decline but are fanatical about supporting those who represent that decline.

It makes no sense. But then again, liberals rarely do make sense.

What part would that play in America's decline ?

I don't propose we do anything.
The majority rules now and they want their government programs.

We are past the point of fixing this.

Did anyone notice the wording here... pretty curious...

President's quote from the OP...

Quote:
The president rejected the idea that America was in decline, but he said it could happen if the right steps weren’t taken to invest in the economy.

“What is absolutely true is if we don’t make good choices, we could decline,” Obama said.
I know it's picky - but to me, a normal choice of words would be to say - "we can avoid decline by doing such and such."

He says decline "could happen if the right steps weren't taken". He says decline could happen.

I think he wants that to happen. Nothing he does REALLY works en mass for the country. Less people are working. Businesses are continuing to close down. Shrinking the military. The EPA and other government acronyms have businesses in regulatory sludge to advance. Obamacare will shut down private insurers.

The stock market is up - yay. Wait - who does that help?

Excellent question. I also doubt he wants to talk about the $21 Trillion in debt he will leave America with when he's gone.

America is in both economic decline and cultural decline.
We can and have before turned economic decline around, but I think we are too far gone to turn our pathetic, corrupt, greedy, obese, reality-tv, low intelligence, politically-correct, entitlement-mentality, and violence-addicted culture around,
