Smith & Wesson: Americans are buying fewer guns - Jun. 20, 2014

"But there are still signs of growth. Smith & Wesson reported a hefty increase in handgun sales, buoyed by growing consumer interest in self-defense. Chief Executive Officer James Debney said Thursday that unit sales for handguns jumped 30% in the most recent quarter. "

The run on AR-type weapons is over. Handgun sales and silencer sales are booming.

News, Smith & Wesson: Americans are buying fewer guns

Correction: Americans are buying fewer Smith & Wesson guns.

This trend has been accelerating ever since S&W decided to cooperate and "work with" the Federal government in its efforts to make more laws restricting the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

The people didn't appreciate S&W's complicity, and their sales are declining as a direct result.

How long did people expect the run on guns to continue? People are all "gunned out" How many guns does one really need after a certain point? I'm surprised that the market was hot for as long as it was.

Once people realized that most of the gun control hype was just that..hype, the cooling off was inevitable.

no, it is just that people are buying less S&W firearms, as gun owners do not trust the backstabbing jerks at S&W.

One gun can't do everything. How many tools do I need in my toolbox? It depends entirely on what I do with them. Same with guns.

I'm stocked up on ones suited for personal protection, CQB and engagements out to 400 yards. I'm not looking at the 400 to 1,000 yard types.

It has been over a year since I've seen .22LR or 9mm in a store. In the last 2 months, .223 is now in stock at a few places.

I imagine sales are down. People bought so many guns the last few years that those numbers would naturally be unsustainable.

Besides, I imagine many sales are now done off the record.
