State & town economic environments create jobs, not the federal government, unless it is government jobs.

Why does Texas & Florida as States, do so much better economically than that of New York & California.
Is it the federal government is pouring money into Texas & Florida to create those jobs?

Why are places like Austin, Dallas, Houston & San Antonio, doing so much better economically, with building new homes at record pace, than that of Albany, Syracuse, Buffalo, and NY City?

How did Texas and Florida, in the last census, take US House Representatives from both New York and California?

What brings money to your area of the world, so you have a chance at getting some of it?

The government consumes.

For me the bad luck of others is good luck for me.....when their water well is no longer severable.

There is very little new construction in our area to drill new water wells.....we did not do much of new construction work anyway.....the contractors want 10% kick back.....I do not need a pimp and will not pay it.

Florida is one of the poorest states in the nation with horrible schools and high crime. Where is the success story here?

I know, yet all the big money in California and New York, love Florida. Doesn't make sense, does it. There must be something drawing them there other then that.

Florida is a typical southern disaster state: low wages, poor school system and high crime.

Rich people buying summer houses in Florida doesn't mean there is any money going to that state or that they love it anymore than they love the Bahamas.

How much money does Texas make from the defense industry? NASA? The Fort Hood complex?
…and that's just for starters. I won't mention all the money that pours into Texas from the federal government for research projects and all the other stuff you detest so much.

Sure, Texas has a lot of wealth that lies outside government, but most of it's wealth depends on the federal government to control management of the distribution of it's natural resources and the manufactured products and agricultural products Texas sells.

Texas ports depend entirely on federal import and export laws to function. They depend on our Navy for Texas' shipping's security on the high seas, and for the Coast Guard's protection in domestic waters. They rely on federal flood and drought controls and programs.

How much money will you make, Bent, when many of those folks you do work for cannot afford your services any more? How much money will you have to cough up out of your pocket if the feds don't cover the costs of the next hurricane that wipes out Galveston again?

I've actually seen some people who believe the government can create civilian jobs outside of government.

That's sort of like seeing a guy taking bricks off one end of a balance beam and putting them on the other end, thinking he's making the beam heavier.

And these people have a vote.

That's a cringeworthy analogy.

Government policy does influence the economy, which in turn influences jobs. Unless you're going to now argue that Obama policies don't affect the economy, which would be absurd, yet not surprising coming from the right.
