Russia Bans Cussing in Films, Books, Movies (Putin, controversial, regular)

A little politics from the country that's currently causing a lot of controversy around the world. It seems the country has been on a serious socially conservative kick as of late. There were first the controversial anti-gay laws passed in the country and now they are banning cussing.

I know "Conservative" is relative, but how do some of you socially conservative Americans feel about the law? For everybody, do you think these policies will hurt Russia in the future?



Russia Bans Cussing in Films, Books, Music

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed off on a new law Monday that bans swearing at arts, cultural and entertainment events in the country.

Any new film containing obscene language won't be granted a distribution certificate, so there's no chance of seeing it at the movie theater.

I feel its really not any of my business what Russia does here. If the people want to put up with it that is their problem.

No, they've been invading countries, forcing their big-government political system on others, and banning movies due to what's in them.

All acts regularly committed by modern liberals, and opposed by conservatives.

They see what freedom did to America and they don't want to go that route.

However, as a conservative, I prefer freedom to temper my own choices and don't need an administration deciding what is good for me morally.

get serious, america, both liberal and conservatives have been "invading" countries for decades forcing our morals and values on others. BTW Sen. Joe McCarthy was a republican.

I don't get into the partisan bickering or my side vs. your side. Just wanted to hear from some people who are socially conservative in the US. Russia's position is obviously extreme and shows what happens when you let extremist takeover a country.
