Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson, the former chief of staff of Colin Powell, has a few things to say about his fellow republicans :

Quote:
Let me just be candid: My party full of racists. And the real reason a considerable portion of my party wants President Obama out of the White House has nothing to do with the content of his character, nothing to do with his competence as Commander in Chief and President, and everything to do with the color of his skin. And that’s despicable.

Colin Powell on the shift to the right within the republican party :

Pablo Ponteja, former State Director of Florida Hispanic Outreach for the Republican National Committee, renounces his republican affiliation and becomes a democrat. Here is a quote from his letter :

Quote:
Yes, I have changed my political affiliation to the Democratic Party.
It doesn’t take much to see the culture of intolerance surrounding the Republican Party today

George Bush won 44prcent of the hispanic vote in 2004. Romney won 27prcent. There is no way a republican candidate beats Hillary in 2016. Rand Paul even thinks there is no way a republican candidate ever becomes president again.

Everyone can see this except the 20% on the far right.

Let them learn the tough way.

It wasn't the GOP that labeled Powell an Uncle Tom.

Uncle Tom Powell Stumps for Massah Bush

My point? Those who throw stones......

I agree with most of Powell's assertions. My party has to change and he made some excellent points.

The assertion by Col. Wilkerson that "most" republicans are racist is ridiculous and flat out wrong.

Yes, it must be racism. Could it possibly be that some in the Republican party just do not agree with the President's policies and would not agree with him regardless of his color?

How many members of the democratic party voted for Obama not based on the content of his character or his competence as CIC but for the color of his skin?
How is that any better?

Well, W thought enough of him to make him Secretary of State. Bush also thought enough of him to send him to the United Nations to make the case that we needed to go after Iraq because they had WMD's. Reagan thought enough of him to make him the National Security Advisor.

Seems a little hypocritical to throw him under the bus just because he's expressing an opinion you don't agree with.

I agree that most Republicans aren't racist. But most Republicans will tolerate racism in their midst.
