Putting every offender into a situation where they will have to become violent criminals to survive, will insure that all offenders released are violent offenders.

Including all the non-violent offenders, like tax-protesters, drug-users, etc. It is a lovely setup for the prison industry, as it'll insure that every one of their customers are now a lifetime repeat customer.

Personally, I think there should be 1 City, and it would be guarded by a giant wall and gun towers.

People would be free to move around as they like, and have their own home,
but they can never leave the city until their sentence is up. (if ever).
I thought it already existed, Detroit.

It would be much less expensive than our current method and I bet it would make people think twice about committing crimes if they knew the consequences.

The Island would pay 100% for itself through TV revenue by producing different themed reality shows. One would Focus on the violence where viewers would be able to see the fights, stabbings and spearings. On another it would feature a gay couple who built a hut far from the violence and inmates and booby trapped the area. Which would answer the question of what would gay guys do to a man hanging by his feet from a tree? Find out next Thursday Another would hit on what kind of political, economic and justice system the prisoners institute, etc etc.
