So let's shoot them instead Your second point is just not true...at least not in my state. I've been through a late night pounding on the door. We called the police and went back to sleep. There was no waiting up or giving a statement.
Pounding on the door; no problem.
breaking the door down, and entering the house? BIG problem!

The scenario presented fits the law perfectly!

Read the article again, he didn't shoot them for banging ON his door, he shot them for banging DOWN the door and ENTERING his house and SHOOTING AT HIM! If the guy banging on the door had simply left, this wouldn't have been a news item!

He was banging on the door for 15 minutes. Are you saying you wouldn't call the police if it was your home. What are you waiting for
Not everyone wants to deal with police reports, and going to court, etc. if someone is just causing a nuisance which this person was up until he busted down the door. If the 15 minutes of banging had been it, and the person had just gone away, this would have been a non-issue. If however the homeowner had immediately called the police, he would have had to wait up, give his statement, possibly wait for police to look around for evidence, or something, and could easily have lasted an hour or more.
Not everyone wants to deal with police reports after !5 MINUTES OF DOOR POUNDING?
Come on. No sane person would wait anywhere nearly that long before calling the police and/or confronting the door pounder.
Anyone who got into a shootout after such a long time as that would have to expect to stay up late to talk to the cops.
This is ridiculous.
LOL the homeowner was inside during the 15 minutes the intruder was outside banging on his door. How exactly would the homeowner alert the intruder to his movements. This is not a great argument for owning a gun. In fact, it makes the case against it.
Turn on lights, making noises, maybe he hears you talking on the phone ect.
Furthermore we don't have to argue or make the case for our rights..you forget that, we win by default.
But then again if this happen to you would have went Jet Lee on him right? LOL
He may have been half asleep, he may have thought he was dreaming..
That's not what the article said.
