What does it matter to you what other people do with their money?

People weighed down with student loan debt can't buy houses, can't buy new cars, can't consume the way Americans are expected to consume, and are a drag on economic growth

So it's all about handing your money over to big business ?

So you rent, take the bus and don't buy all that "bling".
Nothing wrong with that while you pay down your debt.

America needs to rethink some.

2500 sq foot "starter homes" with media rooms and granite countertops is lofty thinking especially when you have loans to pay off.

I majored in political science.

I drive trains for a living.

And I am happy.

Exactly. Instead of repaying all their income, new contributors to the market are expected to start families and buy material goods. I wanted to add more, but you covered all I wanted/could to say.

I loved my political science courses. I wrote some awesome essays.

I majored in city planning and will be in the aviation field for the foreseeable future. A university education did wonders for me, though my degree did not.

Oh well!!! Should have thought about the expense before signing on the dotted line. Nobody put a gun to their back to make them attend college.

And not everyone should attend college. Yet, today's degree is the high school diploma of the past. It is an unsustainable cycle.

I flirted with idea of following my fathers footsteps and joining the Foreign Service but when I won a contest to drive a 2-8-2 1930's era Steam locomotive that ended any thought of being a diplomat.
