After they are here for a certain amount of time they can apply for a matricula consular and a taxpayer ID card, which coincidentally has the exact same number of digits as a social security number.

One they have that then they can work legally, on the books.
Then if they have an anchor baby while they're here, they are all set.........

No need to apply for citizenship, just kick back and wait for amnesty.
My x-sister-in-law came on a Carnival Cruise ship....she paid a $1,500 deposit to work in housekeeping....then got off in Miami.

So why don't you back up your claim that no illegals get food stamps, Medicaid, free meals in schools for their USA born children? You cannot do so because that is exactly how they're affording their larger than normal family sizes here.

The educated and responsible don't have to flee their countries -- Mexico is actually not a poor nation --- if they finish school, delay the start of a family until they've finished school and obtained a job, they become part of Mexico's growing middle class. Mexico's unemployment rate is much lower than the US's.

What we're getting are those who never went to school or dropped out early, often to have babies they could never afford. They can afford them here with our very generous welfare handouts.

But the question is -- why do you liberals want unlimited numbers of foreigners coming in to take jobs and the welfare programs? How is that really such a good thing when there are unemployed Americans and too many people already on the welfare programs?

And whatever happened to the liberal concern for the environment -- they now have turned around and want to cram-pack this nation full of third world types with high birth rates, suddenly they want mega-cities -- so much for spotted owls, we've got to build more housing projects for the third world pouring over the borders.

I agree.

I dearly love my niece....but, as an anchor baby.....she has more than the average child I know.

I will say she is in her third year of medical school.

Because securing the borders has to entail more than building a fence.
It has to do with ending the corruption and policies on both sides of the border that allow illegals to come here and stay here without ever jumping a fence.

The reason we supposedly don't let in every Tom, Dick and Harry that wants in is to protect the American taxpayer. We don't let in lots of poor people because they don't pay ENOUGH taxes.

Apparently you don't realize that it is U.S. Consulates (U.S. State Department officials) that run the process to gain a visa, not any "foreign officials"...

A Matricular Consular is a Mexican document, issued by them only to Mexican citizens. What "Taxpayer ID Card" are you referring to? Can you show us a Google image or something?

No, they can't work legally unless they are a Legal Permanent Resident or have successfully petitioned for an I-765 to have work authorization under a non-immigrant status. Those that misrepresent false notions about illegal immigration do more harm than help for the true issues. It needs a little more thought than to shoot from the hip.

Corruption and bi partisan complacency make fences irrelevant.

So how are foreign officials being "bribed" for someone to get a visa? You're describing a system wholly different than I know. How did you learn of the information you are saying?

VOTES!

Whichever party gives them amnesty is going to get their vote when eligible to do so. Cripes, it ain't rocket science.

So many bureaucracies exist to service them, all those people thusly employed, vote too.
