It doesn't. It rewards illegal behavior and encourages such for the future.

Easy votes -- more unlimited immigration, more cheap labor --- it's a win-win-win for the democrats. They get their cheap servants and easy votes.

Saying that amnesty has been proposed is ... a lie. No such proposal exists. As an aside, this discussion belongs on the Illegal Immigration forum.

What has changed that there won't be millions more illegal aliens in the USA in another 10 or 20 years?

Are we expected to just keep repeating this cycle, as though we are not even a sovereign nation? Do you object to controlled immigration?

Illegal immigration has never been dealt with by either party. It's always been swept under the rug. Why would you ask democrats if they object to controlled immigration. The better question is why a republican in the white house never did anything. I'm surprised no one has wanted to ratify the 14th amendment.

Mexicans vote 80% for Democrats because they want big government, and big government handouts.

That may be believable if we had a booming economy and less welfare programs.

A few would be conservative, but statistics show most would not... which is why the dems want us to believe it's a crisis that the illegal aliens haven't been granted amnesty.

How do people who speak no English, never finished high school, have no job skills, have high early teen birth rates and very large numbers of children ever pay taxes? They take out far more in government handouts -- the free health care, food stamps, WIC, TANF, EITC. They might pay some sales tax but that's it.

The other problem -- adding 30 million illegals to the legal labor pools means they will no longer be picking lettuce or cleaning toilets -- they will want the high paying legal jobs.

I wanted GW to do more to stop illegal immigration. That was a disappointment, but we live in the here and now... Obama is POTUS and Harry Reid controls the Senate.

Looks like you been hitting the Jack D. a little hard.

I think anybody willing to go through the hoops required to become a citizen of this nation, based on this bill passed by the senate, will make a much better citizen than many who were just born to it. They will bring new vigor to a society that has given itself to infighting and self loathing narcissism. They are religious, family oriented, hard working and peaceful by nature.

If I recall, it's thirteen years before they are eligible for citizenship. Plus they need to fulfill many more financial and societal requirements. The idea that these immigrants are going to sit on their ass and collect welfare and subsidies while waiting 13 years for their citizenship is just right wing conservative propaganda and one of the main reasons people like me don't like those who spout such crap.

Immigration reform bill 2013: Senate passes legislation 68-32 - POLITICO.com

There is a bill passed by the senate by a 68 to 32 vote. Bi-partisan all the way, sitting in the house dead because the tea party killed it. Never doubt that the democrats hate those obstructionists for it because it would have put luster on their meager accomplishments.
More so the republican party hate's them more, for this was the issue that would get them back in the hunt for national elections. Why do you think it was 68 to 32? You crapped all over the republican agenda.

I'll give you a clue. Immigration reform will come after the 2014 elections when the incumbents who have lost their seats, have nothing to lose and will vote to pass this in the house. Everybody wins. Nobody looking for reelection get's any blame.
Republicans now have a growing voter market for their politics among the Hispanic american community.
Democrats have delivered on a promise made years ago.

Suck it up. It's a done deal.

Even Cliven Bundy disagrees with you, that says a lot.
