Would you elect an openly gay/lesbian for President? If he/she was an ideal candidate, had a good vision of where the nation should be heading, was well respected, and all of the other things we look for in a President, would the issue of his/her sexual orientation prevent you to vote for them?
Simple answer: No. Especially since the word "openly" is included in the poll question.
All other issues being equal (size of government, level of taxation, national defense, etc.) I would still have to say the overt homosexual agenda stands at variance with what I believe in the social realm.

Thing is Hillary is open about being Heterosexual - with references to her husband.
It really depends on your idea of open. I mean, if Obama started traveling with a male companion, we'd know he's gay. He'd be open with having his partner out in public.
Personally, I think if the general public wouldn't bat an eye at the relationship being the exact same with a guy and girl - it should be no different with a guy and a guy.
I get a little excited thinking about the U.S. having its first openly gay president. BUT, if the person wound up being a terrible leader, it certainly would put a damper on things! I wouldn't vote for someone just because the person is gay because I think that's...well, crazy. I do like to see minorities in these positions, though. It isn't always what everyone envisioned, though. I'm in Louisiana, and I wasn't about to vote for Jindal for governor just because he's a racial minority. I don't think you have to be a white person to be a good ol' boy, and I think Jindal's a prime example.
So...I guess I can't say that orientation is irrelevant, because I would love to see a good and competent openly gay president in my lifetime. But I wouldn't vote for someone because he or she is gay for obvious reasons.
Of course I would, if the candidate is qualified and I agree with his views. His/her sex life is of no consequence to me, I couldn't care less what people do in their bedrooms.
I think that gay issues should always remain a state issue. Not federal. Right now, our country is too different to have sweeping federal laws. In the future this might not be the case, but presently, said issues are best left up to the states. As long as a president honors this, the fact that he/she is gay is irrelevant to me. Christian or non-Christian, black or white, male or female, rich or poor, tall or short, skinny or fat doesn't matter as long as he/she is well-qualified for the job.
You ought to attend some Log Cabin Republican meetings..
I know all about Log Cabin Republicans. They're not CONSERVATIVE in anything else except fiscally.
