"The U.S. government has accidentally named the top spy in Afghanistan on a memo given to reporters accompanying President Barack Obama on a surprise visit to Kabul. The memorandum included an individual named as ‘Chief of Station’ - the title given to the top CIA officer in a given country. It was immediately retracted, and a new memo was issued. The security breach was first reported late yesterday evening by the Washington Post, which declined to name the officer publicly for fear of putting him or his family at risk."
Celebrating Memorial Day. Give the story some time, if people aren't upset about it by the end of the week then you can question it. Stop expecting everything to be instant.
Memorial Day, give it some time. Outrage doesn't happen instantly on holiday weekends. You should get out and enjoy the beautiful day, maybe visit a military cemetery or something.
Are you trying to say that an accidental leaking is as bad as an intentional, vindictive leak? If so, that's pretty funny and sad that people can think in such narrow, political tracks that they can't see the difference. Sure, someone should (and probably is) being held accountable over the slip-up but it's hardly comes up to the level of a scandal like when Valerie Plame was purposely outed.

You're right, all this would show is the continued incompetence of this administration.
valerie plame was not purposely outed, and she was no longer a covert agent by the time her name was put out in public.
as for waiting a week, rubbish. the minute it was suggested that the bush administration may have outed a cia agent, the press was all over them calling for someones head to roll, actually they called for several someones heads to roll, including bushs head.
If you thought that, then you really don't think about things very hard.
if you remember when valerie plame got outed, also an accidental outing by the way, the press and others were calling for peoples heads on a platter, including that of bush. they wanted bush impeached over the issue.

Robert Novak revealed Plame's status as a CIA operative in his Washington Post column, hardly accidental at all.
