Everything is sad in America except NYC and national parks.

Nature is never sad. NYC is fun because you can walk and socialize.

Nice try, though.
How are your uber liberals different from our uber liberals?

Yet we don't seem to want to off ourselves as much as the people in those "happy" nations.

The secret of happiness:

We are 4th in this one, behind three happy white people countries.

I saw another one where the happiest countries were in Latin America. Happiness measurements tend to be pretty subjective.

they are just talking about the people in that country. I am quite happy with the USA, just not happy with the federal government since 1991.

Money and of course, the American Dream is still be spread even though that idea is dead or at least in a coma. Money is a powerful draw. If you hear that in ____ Country, you could make x 10 what you make, and have nicer things, you'd get sucked into that. Especially if you were not aware of all the other issues we are facing as a society in this country.

Because we are modeled and marketed as the best. Democracy is better than your government is what we are told. You should do what we do right? Isn't that what we've been selling for 200 years? The American Dream? Freedom? We are supposed to be better than everyone else, so if that were true, we'd be the happiest. But we are not.

Obama has set the tone and it is not inspiring at all. It is a miserable message of all that is wrong and no positives or working together with this president. It is his way or the highway. His cabinet and his party follow him in his tone as well.
If you think this is all on Obama, then you are just like the rest of the sheeple in this country. Caught up in a bipartisan con game designed to keep us fighting amongst ourselves as they figure out new ways to chip away our liberties. Our government does not care about you. Get this Democrat / Republican crap out of your head. Bush was as bad as Obama. I can assure you that Obama's predecessor will be as bad or worse. The political party does not matter. You are not in the 1%, so neither party cares about you or me.

LOL, I know I will regret this later...but...

Obviously those "happy" countries suffer from a serious happiness inequality issue. While happier on average, the unhappy minority are deeply unhappy.

Or...

When everyone around you is so damned happy, and your not the choice is obvious! Its you not them....

Actually looking at the numbers the difference isnt that high between us and them...for suicide at least.

So this constant talk about income inequality is not not left-wing?
Calling them socialist is not ridiculous because many of them call themselves so and think that communism works.

I think they've taken to calling themselves socialist because so many on the right do so. It still doesn't make them socialists.

Telling them that socialism means the state controlling the means of production would probably cause most (not all) of them to go "thats not what I support".
