Let me get this straight.

Some guy buys a new car, drives it off the lot... and gets carjacked before he gets home.

And now that's Ford's fault???

It is, but look at it another way. You have people demanding that gun manufacturers be held accountable when a thug uses a gun to commit a crime. It's the same mentality. Take the blame away from the perp and put it on someone else.

by that reasoning then, we should be able to sue the federal reserve every time someone gets robbed, or the credit card companies when credit card numbers get stolen. or perhaps the automakers when a car gets stolen. my brothers guns got stolen last year, should he be able to sue the gun manufacturers?

if this ever happens, then we can kiss any possible chance to fix the economy as the only people that would be getting rich would be the lawyers, and no one would take the chance on making anything ever again.

Yeah, but a full body dangling from a gibbet is a more striking image as well as deterrent.

The people with this mindset want to teach your child all about values/morals.

Funny how some people's brains get stuck in motion.

The short answer is "No".

The long answer is, "Is this a legit question? Because this is a really stupid question".

Huh. I suggest you lookup civil law on how it works; OP.
