SINGAPORE (Reuters) - The United States and China squared off at an Asian security forum on Saturday, with the U.S. defense secretary accusing Beijing of destabilizing the region and a top Chinese general retorting that his comments were "threat and intimidation".

Using unusually strong language, U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel took aim at Beijing's handling of territorial disputes with its Asian neighbors.

"In recent months, China has undertaken destabilizing, unilateral actions asserting its claims in the South China Sea," Hagel said.

He warned Beijing that the United States was committed to its geopolitical rebalance to the Asia-Pacific region and "will not look the other way when fundamental principles of the international order are being challenged".

Our foreign policy seems bent on uniting Russia and China against us.

It has already been achieved. That O sure is smart.

Maybe in 2016, the Dems can run on this theme: Democrats - destroying 40+ years of diplomacy in a few short months.

Well, they were already nuclear-armed and they've never really been our allies. In the geopolitical scheme of things, they are our competitors who are at best friends of convenience. It has always been that way.

So the Obamawhiner solution would be what?

Kiss China's ass while they continue their cyberattacks on US business and kiss Putin's ass while he wears his little Tsar suit and invades sovereign nations?

We went to this Asian security meeting and let China know we have a serious problem with their expansionist tactics in the South China sea. Standard diplomacy when one nation lets another nation know they disapprove of recent actions. Historically the first step in escalation.
Would you republicans have preferred we sent a ass kissing delegation there, instead?

THIS. If the Obama administration was cozying up to these two countries, the people in this thread would be bashing him for that, and they damn well know it's true.

To a conservative republican, any spin is good spin. It doesn't matter if the exact opposite was true yesterday.

The last 3 Admins have seen to it that China had the funds to arm up. This has allowed them the confidence to do what they are now doing. WE bought and paid for China's modern military.
