And PTSD protects you from the Taliban when they "capture" you? Why do they so quickly kill other Americans but were so kind as to spare this guy's life?
Well you seem to believe you know the intentions and motivation of the Taliban intimately, so maybe you can explain it. In fact, what makes you a Taliban expert?
See, NOTHING this president and his administration can or will do is questioned by his media.
Did you see the Sunday morning news talk shows today? There were a few soft questions regarding this guy deserting and the Obama apologists said that all can be investigated later, for now we must celebrate it. Give him a hero's welcome -- even if he deserted and got others killed.

More important question -- what are Obama's intentions and motivations?
The Taliban did not go into the base to get him. He walked out into the Taliban territory where there would be no hope of actually making it out to safety. But --- for some reason the Taliban didn't kill this guy when they're pretty quick to kill any American they find. Maybe you can tell me the reason they were so kind with this one?
Have you seen a video of this or something else to verify it? None of the links posted verify the above, and one report is he was snatched while getting into his car, drunk. The US military called that a lie. Another video about the event says Bergdahl stated he was taken when he lagged behind.
Me and just about everybody in 'Nam felt the same way about that war and that Army. I still do. Of course, I did not walk off with bottle of water. I really don't care about the release. Who knows what the deal behind the story really was? We have nothing to worry about from Muslims if we mind our own affairs. You don't see them blowing up stuff in China.
We hear a lot about vets who come home with PTSD and kill people or themselves or commit other destructive inexplicable deeds. Perhaps soldiers have PTSD and mental problems while they are actually still involved in battle? Maybe you've been watching too much Homeland.
Perhaps you should stop pretending like you understand PTSD and stop playing armchair psychiatrist. As a veteran who did multiple deployments I find it patronizing at best when people try to reference us as if we're somehow mentally frail and prone to snapping at any moment. PTSD has minor connections to violence at best. There's some who suffer from real symptoms of PTSD that need to be treated and cared for, but if you're trying to convince people that this guy abandoned his unit because he was suffering from PTSD after being in theater for a short time, no dice, I'm not buying it.
His own emails clearly show a cogent state of mind, he was simply pissed off that the Army wasn't what he had expected it to be. Instead of sucking it up and working through his deployment or at worst basically waving the white flag and letting a superior know that he wanted out, he walked out on everyone and put others at risk due to his own stupidity.

Yes, the people who were stationed with him have reported that much, in the Rolling Stones report and other places. They said that he repeatedly claimed he was going to walk out, and the same day he left he asked if he could take his weapon if he went off post. You're trying WAY too hard to look for zebra's when you can see horses stampeding everywhere.

That report came directly from the Taliban, alternatively they also claimed that they found him in a latrine, it certainly serves their propaganda better to make it sound as humiliating as possible. Claiming the guy was walking around unarmed when he was captured or voluntarily went looking for the Taliban doesn't make for good propaganda for them.

That was his own claim, which was completely unverified and makes no sense when further investigated since it took nearly a dozen hours before someone noticed his absence, that doesn't happen in a patrol.
I would have been more pleased if this had been done through the proper channels so there are checks and balances as opposed to the President (this applies to Bush also) continued belief that laws don't apply to him.
Don't stop at Bush. Let's go back to where this type of behavior originated. That would be with Ronald Reagan who traded arms for hostages and you can bet your sweet ass he absolutely did not go through proper channels.
Tweets made by someone who claimed to have been stationed with Bergdahl and seems to have quite a bit of information that apparently the Army has not authorized him to share.
The reality is that Bergdahl is full of it, his own accounting is beyond absurd. He ditched his unit, and while I don't see him getting sentenced for being a deserter in light of being a captive of the Taliban, I would hope at minimum the Army would knock him back down to E-1 status as he is absolutely undeserving of the rank of "Sergeant."
The whole situation is fishy and we may never know what is truly going on here. He is the only POW ever taken, he survives in good shape for 5 years, and then gets exchanged for the Taliban leadership we worked so hard to capture. Not only that, we have his father and Obama praying to Allah in a foreign language at the presidential podium. If nothing else, this should finally convince the doubters that Obama is an Islamist with no stomach for avenging the victims of 9/11.
