He needs to be investigated -- he got fellow soldiers killed with his stunt of walking off into Taliban territory.
And I'm sure he will be investigated. But, to welcome him home with accusations and traitorous implications is really a vile act. Give him the chance of a fair trial (if it comes to that) before you throw a guy whose been through hell under the bus.

He's been through hell? How do you know this? Why wasn't his head sawed off like Daniel Pearl's?
He'll never face any such thing, for political and PR reasons. Already politicians are saying "well, even if he deserted, he's already done his time." This whole story will be buried as fast as possible, which will provide the ultimate insult to injury for the families of those who died looking for Bergdahl.
Or.... He's not guilty (I'm not saying he is but you are all convicting him before the guy hits American soil) and there's no reason to have a trial. Maybe he was an idiot. That's possible. But that's not a crime.

People who served with him have said he walked off, his own comments made it seem like he was going to walk off, he sent all his stuff back during the middle of a deployment, who do you know does that?
Why would you send your extra uniforms home during the middle of a deployment? I was glad to have my extra uniforms and wish I had brought even more since trying to do laundry in a plastic bucket every few days got old fast.
Why were his only missing items a canteen, a camera and a compass, with his weapon and armor left behind? What are you going to do with those items in the middle of the night in Afghanistan?
There was zero legitimate reason for him to be outside the FOB all by himself and there is zero evidence that any insurgents got inside the perimeter.
People can keep denying the truth right in front of their eyes for I guess ideological or political reasons or whatever but this guy said what he was going to do and then went out on and did it. There's literally no other explanation that makes sense. Nobody that seems to think that he didn't desert his unit has been able to come up with a reasonable explanation as to how he happened to vanish in such a fashion.

Deserting your unit, especially in war-time is always a crime. Unfortunately others had to pay with their lives for this one guy's stupidity.
Yes, the people who were stationed with him have reported that much, in the Rolling Stones report and other places. They said that he repeatedly claimed he was going to walk out, and the same day he left he asked if he could take his weapon if he went off post. You're trying WAY too hard to look for zebra's when you can see horses stampeding everywhere.
That report came directly from the Taliban, alternatively they also claimed that they found him in a latrine, it certainly serves their propaganda better to make it sound as humiliating as possible. Claiming the guy was walking around unarmed when he was captured or voluntarily went looking for the Taliban doesn't make for good propaganda for them.
That was his own claim, which was completely unverified and makes no sense when further investigated since it took nearly a dozen hours before someone noticed his absence, that doesn't happen in a patrol.
"He said/she said". Nothing verified.

You're full of it. OTOH, I AM a believer in due process, something you RWs don't want to give to anyone except Edward Snowden.
And if the 5 terrorists released kill more Americans, that blood will be on the hands of Bergdahl, Obama, and people who voted Obama into office.
It will be on Bush who started all this. Obama is only trying to mop up the mess.
