Just when you think Obama can't be any more inept or worse for America, he and his clearly incompetent staff pull a stunt like this.
The war is ending soon. What do you propose with do with the people in GITMO held as prisoners of war? Every attempt to give them trials has been blocked by Republicans. We have never kept prisoners of war after the war has ended and without trials we have no legal standing to keep them past the end of the war. They would have been released eventually anyway. Who knows, maybe the CIA has them on a hit list, now, for all we know.
Hagel is a puppet. He was a Sgt. and now he is in charge of the entire Defense Dept????? He is a liar the same as his boss. They insult the American people by making a stupid statement that we didn't negotiate.

You actually propose letting mass-murdering terrorists go? What makes you think they'll stop their murderous terrorist acts when the war is supposedly "over?"

No they haven't. They gave Obama full control over what happens there. He simply had to supply reports on what was going on.
He could have closed it if he wanted. He just needed to inform Congress what he was going to do with the prisoners.

Yeah, that must be it. I suppose you think that a Naval Captain would want to determine if a Sailor Overboard, jumped or was pushed, BEFORE turning the Ship around to pick him/her up?
Susan Rice did on the Sunday morning shows. The link is in this thread. One would have thought that the administration would have learned from the mess she made of Benghazi.
She said "he served with honor and distinction" which isn't exactly the same thing as calling him a "hero" but I'll give you that she did say the honor and distinction line.
