Maybe you're looking at poverty in some other county like Haiti for example ?

Strange Facts about America
Hey what about me? I'm hungry right now. Maybe if I call the state they will deliver me a pizza?

I provided an example of how one could afford food and shelter on a full time minimum wage salary without assistance. Share a room with a roommate in a cheap rental.

I'm not a "teabagger" or a Republican.

Anybody who doesn't agree with these folks is a "teabagger" in their eyes. Sad.

So then drink water, don't eat chips, and exercise. Even if it means walking around the block every day. What a concept, right?

"The first man who, having fenced in a piece of land, said "This is mine," and found people naïve enough to believe him, that man was the true founder of civil society. From how many crimes, wars, and murders, from how many horrors and misfortunes might not any one have saved mankind, by pulling up the stakes, or filling up the ditch, and crying to his fellows: Beware of listening to this impostor; you are undone if you once forget that the fruits of the earth belong to us all, and the earth itself to nobody. ”

— Jean-Jacques Rousseau, 1754

Since essentially our economy and society is based on a theft of the world's resources in order to concentrate them into fewer hands, I can see the point of someone saying someone who works fulltime shouldn't be in poverty.
