The GOP made historic gains in the 2010 election and came to DC with big plans and then two years later they lost House and Senate seats and the White House. Even after the 2012 election they still had control of the House and a good amount of power in the Senate and to this day they still don't have much to show as far as advancing their agenda. They've done well at stopping Obama's agenda, but he's just one person and it's likely Hillary could be our next president.

This leads to my question, has the GOP missed their chance at moving their agenda forward? There's a good chance the GOP could win back the Senate in 2014 and some Democrats fear that Obama would be willing to work with a Republican House and Senate, but as soon as the 2014 election is over you will see the 2016 primary season unofficially kick off and that could discourage presidential hopefuls from trying to legislate, make deals, and compromise. In 2016 things look bright for Democrats, especially in the Senate. So will the GOP continue to simply be the party that stops the Democratic agenda until they no longer can or will we see some in the GOP who would like to start cutting deals while they still have power to do so?

Stopping Obama's agenda is a good job in many peoples books. As for moving their own agenda forward, Dirty Harry Reid has done a good job by refusing to bring anything the house passed to the table to be voted on in the Senate.

What do you mean "until they no longer can?" That would require a Democratic supermajority....of which no one with any credibility is forecasting at any point in the near future.

All of your babble makes no sense, especially this part because the GOP agenda is smaller government and less spending. By simply holding the house we get a smaller government and less spending..

Obama's agenda will be similar to Clinton's agenda and other Democratic presidents who follow, so they aren't stopping anything. Delaying, but not stopping.

The GOP has the gerrymandered advantage until 2022. A more diverse and less conservative USA will get rid of that advantage. The GOP taking the Senate this year isn't even a guaranteed outcome and 2016 will favor the Democrats simply because it is a presidential election year and the map favors them greatly regarding who is up for election. So will they get a super majority? No probably not, but they will be getting closer to that goal.

Personally, I never underestimate the ability of Republicans to shoot themselves in their collective foot, and then snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The 2006 Congressional elections. The 2012 Presidential election. The 2012 senatorial elections.

There is talk about the Republicans gaining a majority in the Senate in 2014. ROTFLMAO!!!! I can hardly wait for the snafus and fubars and stupidy dripping from their mouths. And I am a republican/tea party type!

Or, perhaps people are starting to figure out what the Tea Party Republican's agenda actually is - vs. what they claim it to be - and are not impressed.
