May I point out this sort of an outcome was virtually guaranteed since Bush destabilized the place with no idea for reconstructing it?
Stupidity is rewarded...here it comes.
This is the outcome that so many people predicted and that some warned about before we launched a full scale invasion and occupation of their country with only 150,000 troops.
I've always been of the opinion that chaos was exactly what the administration had hoped would result. The firing, en masse, of the entire Iraqi Army left a power vacuum that even the most obtuse foreign policy neophyte could see would result.
In the chaos I suppose it is easier to loot a country and concentrate solely on securing access to its oil reserves.

May I point out that this sort of outcome was virtually guaranteed the very minute that Obama was elected President of the USA. Bush negotiated a SOFA, which was the most he could do at the end of the War in Iraq. There was never any doubt that Obama would toss it all on the ash-heap of history to "Blame Bush". We left Iraq in a pretty stable considetion, but the Big O has to prove that he knows best .... and here we are.
Bullflop. If Obama hadn't been so shortsighted he could've negotiated a status of forces agreement with Iraq and had an ally in the region that could've have potentially changed the course of the future in the mid-east.
So libs, tell us again about Al-Qaeda being on the run.
Yea, that's just what Americans wanted, to keep troops as moving targets in Iraq.
You bought George Walker Bush and his policies, now it's time to take responsibility and own them.
One is left to wonder. We have had a few bad presidents, but not one this bad. Obama has reached new lows for the office of the presidency through incompetence, lack of respect for the law, and inability to compromise.
There is one disaster after another, such that one is simply numb to the ineptitude.
Obama so wanted out of Iraq that he did not even consider what might happen if the Muslim extremists captured Iraq.

Leaving Iraq was a great decision.

The Mid-East is on Fire - it is Obama's Legacy.
I'm glad this outcome was guaranteed...It's a great outcome.
Bush owns the Iraq fiasco. No amount of rewriting history on the part of the right will ever change that, though they will continue to try to distance themselves from it. It was Bush and Cheney's war, and they own the mess of the aftermath. Unfortunately, all of us will be paying for it for decades to come.
