Here's a link to four excellent peer reviewed studies done over an extended period of time all across the country and each time the evidence points them to the exact same conclusion, that more guns a place has the more homocides it has. More guns equals more gun violence. Now, this is actual fact based research which directly contridicts the claims of the gun nuts who, wrongly, claim that more guns makes everyone safer. The facts and the evidence all show the exact opposite is true; more guns means more gun violence and more killing making ALL people less safe.
I'm sure the gun nuts will chime in with the same old disproven cliches just like they always do. They never do let facts get in the way of their fetish.

More cars mean more people killed in wrecks so I guess we should put a limit on or ban cars.
You could read the link because it says both accidents resulting in death and violent deaths involving firearms are more common in rural areas. Both categories are higher than in cities.
Oh, and, yes, they controlled for distance to medical facilities and concluded that while distance did increase the death rates (when minutes matter being further away has an impact) but even so rates were still higher in rural areas.
Yeah, Detroit is a lot safer than Vermont. Err, wait a minute...
You're more likely to die a violent death in rural areas than you are in cities. FACT.

This link says that you are fifteen times more likely to die from an accident than a murder. And that people in rural areas are far more likely to die from accidental death. It says guns have absolutely nothing to do with it.
Practically the entire difference in accidental death rate seems to involve automobiles. People who live in rural areas are nearly three times as likely to die from a vehicle accident than people who live in the city.
Most likely because of higher speeds and longer distances to medical treatment.

Look, the original study doesn't seem overly conclusive to me. First, it is only comparing 26 developed countries, and basically admits that if you take the United States out of the picture, the results aren't conclusive.
It goes on to talk about how on average, the states in the United States which have the most guns, have the most murders. Which is true. But if you could imagine for a second that you could take the United States and basically cut it in half from North to South. Would that average still hold up? No. The Northwest, Midwest, and for Northeast have very loose gun laws and high gun ownership but very low murder rates. The northern states with the most gun control laws are actually the most violent states.
The truth is, "deep south" states and border states have high murder rates. Those murder rates have nothing to do with gun ownership. The study is idiotic because it makes assumptions based on correlations instead of actually trying to find the actual cause.
If there is anything I'll die from in the rural areas, it probably will be from an accident related to what I enjoy doing. They are like the helicopter parents that I keep hearing about. Rural areas are spread out so the distances to basic needs will be longer.
