No.

But there are people who are the last offspring in their immediate family line, and to keep their family going some want children.

Some want children for the wrong reasons.

Many have children they can't afford.

A pet is an animal companion.

Taxpayers with children aren't the problem.

The people having the most children now are those who cannot afford them and have them so they can get the government freebies. End food stamps, Medicaid, WIC and especially TANF which actually rewards those having babies they can't afford with free cash.

Not necessarily a void -- but pets are different in children in that they aren't going to grow up and leave home. You have children so you can raise them to leave you. With pets, it should be "until death do us part", they're not going to pack up and move away, they're not going to get to an age where their friends matter more to them than you do.

People who don't want kids shouldn't have them, there is far too much neglect and abuse, and people who are dependent and helpless themselves should not have kids.

I too agree that pets can't be substitute for children.

America is shot to hell because too many people think it's their obligation to produce children.

Neither children nor pets should be produced without extreme thought and planning. Bottom line: If you can't feed and support them on your own and without help from the government or relatives, STOP! Go No Further! You don't qualify.

Children are expensive and draining. I love my children and I would not trade them for anything in the world, but what I stated is true. Plus, what sort of world are prospective parents bringing their children into? The economy sucks, I don't give a crap about what the economists say AND children, in America and other developed countries, cannot go to school without being gunned down. Bringing kids into this world?

Maybe you should pay them all back for your education because of their subsidies.
