That is a silly idea, should we also have border patrol and a passport when we drive from state to state? Also, what would classify as a time of need and what if states don't want to unite in a time of need? This idea of not getting your way so just take your ball home doesn't work in the real world. I am perfectly happy having a united country of states, and I will gladly fight against people who wish to break up the US into tiny countries and wish to destroy my country.
You are absolutely correct!!! I imagine they will collect social security when their time comes, too.
Social Security is not a hand-out by government. One pays in to Social Security their entire working lives, with their employer also contributing half (it is part of ones pay, whether you realize it or not).
Government has forced this on all working people. A self-employed person pays the entire amount.
The return on this "investment" is very poor, too.

True, and it would work much better if:
1. The government would keep their hands off of it and stop using it as their personal slush fund.
2. If the amount you contribute was up to you and you got back only what you pay into it with interest but without adjustments for inflation.
Their days are numbers, count them one by one, like the notches in the hand of outlaw`s gun...They can out run the devil if they try, but they never out run the hands of time.
Wasn't Obamacare based on the Republican Romneycare which itself was based upon the Republican response to Hillarycare? Obamacare is based on Republican ideas.
However, as time goes on, fewer and fewer people will be opposed up Obamacare. There are aspects of it many people including Republicans like. For example, you or your child have a pre-existing conditions, Obamacare will make sure you are covered. I do not want his thread to be about Obamacare so that is all I am saying.
Maybe a class on American History will teach you about why we have states. If you are asking that question here, then there is no way I can teach you why we have states in a single thread.
It was government that forced the legalization of the killing of unborn babies, and it is government that is forcing so-called "gay marriage" on us. Those are both the result of "big government."
Oh, I see. So telling a woman that her body is not actually, y'know, hers if she has an unwanted pregnancy is small government? Don't fool yourself. Well, try not to.
And it was most certainly not government who forced gay marriage. It was individuals who wanted to provide their loved ones the same securities as could be found in mixed-gender couples. If people like you and Sophiasmommy actually believed in small government, you wouldn't have gone ape over that, much less have used government to try to keep other people from pursuing a bit of happiness as they saw fit. As I had to point out, Prop 8. wasn't about keeping gay marriage form happening - it was about stopping something that was already happening.
As far as I can tell, your definition of "small government" is "government that doesn't get in my way".
Didn't you just prove that the high cost of living is forcing out the working and middle class, their for leaving only the wealth and therefore inflating that stats?
Yeah - the cost of living is so high because nobody wants to live there. Aren't all y'all supposed to like when the market works?

Self-employed do not always pay in.
They pay based on profit......no profit.....no payment.
Democratic Propagandists, i.e the media, always say that reps and dems need to "find common ground", ironically they're always saying it to republican pols, never dem ones, but I digress.
My question is, what common ground? Conservatives and Leftists literally have nothing in common; nothing. We (constitutional conservatives) believe in individual freedom and liberty and that the larger the government, the less liberty for the individual. Neo Progressives believe in a HUGE Government Industrial Complex controlling every aspect of our lives from cradle to grave. Neo Progs believe in blaming rich people for poor peoples plight. Con Cons believe that you have the ability to succeed or fail based on your own merits and whatever income someone makes has no bearing on your life.
These are but two glaring examples of our difference, but I could literally list at least a half dozen. There is no "common ground". My solution? Peaceful Separation; The Northeast can become the Peoples Democratic Socialist Republic of America, the South and Midwest can become the Unified States of New America, returning to the roots of individual freedom and liberty and limited government that this nation was founded upon and Cali, Oregon and Washington can become another leftist nation. What say you?
Given the obvious far-right wing bias, you're "correct" - that people with such bias will never, ever be able to find common ground with not only those on the left, but those in the middle as well.
Tea Party conservatives do NOT believe in freedom and liberty - they believe in freedom and liberty FOR THEMSELVES AND THOSE LIKE THEM. Gays, blacks, those of other religion... yeah, not so much. After all, it is the far-right who wants a government too small to pave the roads but large enough to prohibit everything from gay marriage to the building of temples for other religions to abortion.
So, yeah, if the Deep South wants to separate and become the gun-crazed, corporate-worshiping, Christian theocracy the Tea Party so wants, feel free to leave. Just don't come whining to the "socialists" in the north when your nation turns into an impoverished hole in a few years... not that you can afford to leave anyway since the Deep South takes more money than it receives from the Federal government and is still poor. Funny how that works...
Have fun with that and don't let the door hit your "nation" on the way out.
