Show me where I was "entirely silent"? Bush spent like a drunken sailor, Obama spent like a drunken Bush. Liberalism is dinosaur ideology because it's predicated on the notion of a HUGE Government Industrial Complex controlling every aspect of our lives from cradle to grave.

In the end, Republican leadership weren't able to get anything done because the fringe element wouldn't agree to any tax increases.

Most of the people like yourself were entirely silent
when Republicans had full control of the House, Senate and Presidency. The whining about small government goes away because the emotion need to whine about Democrats is gone.

To say that most conservatives in this country want small government is ignoring that the right in this country is driven by religion, not small government. Please tell me any of the Republican candidates for President who were pro-choice.

In terms of the conservatism you're talking about, while you're done a better job than most of outlining your concerns, you say nothing about any real changes that can be made. That's rather unfortunately typical of most anyone conservative. It makes people like me look bad.

The bulk of the government budget is made up of Social Security, Medicare, National Defense, Social Security and servicing the debt. There's about 28% left over for everything else. None of those first five things can be cut, so your sum total of small government comes out of 28% of the revenues. Best of luck shrinking that down. Oh and by the way, with the population demographics changing due to the baby boomers, the outflows from Social Security and Medicare are going to balloon. Oh and unfortunately, we gutted the tax base so none of this is really paid for.

Please feel free to present a real solution and something that would actually happen and not some pie in the sky that will never happen.

Uh.........Pelosi and Reid are Obama's helper monkeys, they just spew whatever he wants them to.

If Boehner would bring the bill on immigration up for a vote, which he hasn't, there appears to be no concern that it wouldn't pass. Repubs do not want to see this President have any success. I wonder when a female Democrat becomes our President if she will have to endure the same stonewalling. Is it anti-democrat that propels them or is it just against this specific
man??????
Wow, just.................wow.

That was one of my main points in the op, I never hear liberals tell me where dems should compromise, it's only republicans who should. What specifically should democrats compromise on?

B.) You're failing to account for the fact that every state, city, town and village in America is deeply divided. Very liberal cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Los Angeles all have a significant minority population of conservatives. Small rural towns in the South might be overwhelmingly conservative, but there are Democrats that live there and want to live there.
C.) Drawing lines on a map doesn't solve item B.
This is just simply untrue.

Dems compromised by allowing Bush to invade Iraq. That turned out well.

I've spent time in both LA and SF, and I can't imagine why you say this. Care to share?

[quote=ChrisFromChicago;35261308]who are these fictional conservatives you speak of?

These are not the republicans, who grew the govt. in Arizona (via full control) faster than any Democratic or mixed legislature. These aren't those who worship Ronald R, who expanded govt and the military industrial complex. The republicans who tell us who we shouldn't marry, what drugs we should or shouldn't do, and what gods we should worship?

perhaps your inability to find common ground rests in the fiction of which you perceive the world.[/quote

Wow think you are speaking about this current President from your hometown, and deceitful administration.

Glad we found some common ground. Can't be a common ground because one side, is so damn bull headed, there is no reasoning with them. Seems to me this current administration tells us what to eat and not to eat, whether we like it or not. Seems to me we have a President who changes law to suit his own agenda, and nothing more.

And quite clear we have a President who don't know squat about a damn thing until the chit hits the fan.

I have a friend who lived in Palmdale and referred to the entire state as LACA as LA basically set the tone for culture everywhere he went. He retired and went to FLA as fast as he could.

Democrats don't even negotiate. How about last year and the sequestor? Obama made it known he wouldn't negotiate, meaning compromise wasn't even an option.
Yep. conservattives are to negotiate and compromise until there is nothing left.
