The parade is occurring on public land and costing public resources for security, overhead, etc. Gay troops have as much right as anyone else to participate. If the parade organizers don't want the public to participate, they have no right to use public streets and resources.
Did you feel the same when the St Paddys parade banned the gay group? They were using public streets and public security.
