Red skin on a person does not offend me nor the name red skin.. black skin does not offend me either. Nor brown skin, tan skin, white skin, freckled skin, yellow skin.
Can we say that blue eyes, or brown eyes, or hazel eyes are offensive? Do we say that red hair, black hair, brown hair, grey hair or blonde hair or curly hair , wavy hair or straight hair is offensive?

I am sure in all those John Wayne movies I used to watch as a kid when he was calling the Indians "Red Skins" he was complementing them.
what are the sports casters going to call them now? they should say, "the team, formerly called the red skins. LOL
They will still call them the Redskins, unless they (the team) changes the name.
Legal action has been taking place for at least the last 30 years (the trademarks were previously cancelled in the late 90's)
The ruling does not stop the team from selling sweatshirts, shot glasses and other items with the name or keep the team from stopping those who try to profit from the teams name and logo.
A father and preacher in Houston County, Georgia is flaming mad at his local high school’s football team name and mascot, and he demands that it be changed immediately.
According to this concerned parent his local team’s moniker - Warner Robins High School Demons – promotes evil and satanic thoughts and activities.

It's a movie... is that what dictates to you?
If the Indians were calling us white skins I guess that would be offensive to your thinking.. I am not offended if someone says white skin. It is just pigment in the skin that creates color.
I am not offended by saying the color of ones skin.. their skin color is factual and God created us with differences. So what is sooo offensive.

A "God" may have created us with differences, but (s)he did not assign colour labels to them.
The only reason to identify a group of people by skin color is to be offensive. That is not "God's" doing.
The name of the team was a dedication to an American Indian coach, and the team logo was designed by an American Indian artist.
How could this be construed as offensive?

I think it all is a matter of context. Hypothetically, if an African sports club was named the "white skins" and used an image of let's say George Washington as their mascot, there are more than a few people who find that offensive.
But also consider if the name of the team was the Washington "Yellowskins". Would you know which racial group that name was referring to and would not that racial group group be slightly offended? We all know the answer to that question.
I've changed my thinking on this name. It is offensive and should be changed.
