Immigration is no longer just a political policy but now a religious cult that pervades over almost every political and economic policymakers. These people constantly talk about immigration reform as if admitting 1 million legal immigrants to the USA isn't enough. When will it be enough for them anyways, 10 million immigrants a year or 100 million immigrants a year?

Last night, there was a public hearing in Escondido CA, at their planning commission to hear the plan by the feds to buy a defunct nursing home and house IIRC 85 of the juveniles immigrants. It broke down into liberal v liberal v conservative. The feds claimed it was a detention facility, but the kids could come and go as they pleased. The facility is in a borderline residential/commercial district. There are no recreation facilities on site, there are no cooking facilities on site, in it's former incarnation all the food was prepared at Palomar Hospital and trucked in. There were scores of people in attendance holding up banners and shouting "inhumane" to anyone who even attempted to ask a question. Once they were removed, all questions had the same resultant talking point answer: 150 federal jobs, $8 Million additional into city coffers. Disregarding the response of conservatives in attendance, it was liberal concerned about their kids safety vs liberals who could only scream "inhumane" to any dissent, without reasoning.

Not true.. Do some research and here's your credible source. Look, I get the racial bias. Blacks will support him regardless of what he does. They feel they have been held down by the man, Obama is the Savior sent by God etc. etc.. I really do get that but I have said it a 1,000 times, for Christ's sake at least do your homework.

The man is a pathological liar.

Would you care to contribute to the Marion Barry re-election fund?

It's certainly an issue if those demographics are changing via illegal immigration. Many areas that are becoming Hispanic dominant are factually due to that.

Just looking at election result maps in today's local NYC news papers and they show how Rangel won by drawing on long cultivated roots within the Latino/Hispanic community.

While both Rangel and his opponent held their own (Harlem and the Bronx respectively) , the former was able to win enough districts in the latter's manor to give him an edge. In contrast his opponent did not do very well in Harlem winning but a few areas.

Long as Harlem/African American voters turn out in majority numbers for primaries that group along with a percentage of Latino/Hispanic will give an AA candidate the edge to win. For a Latino/Hispanic candidate to win he or she must not only generate a huge turn out among those groups but obtain some support from the AA community as well.

Of course this all hinges on this Harlem district remaining majority African American and that voting current voting patterns hold. Just as with Mr. Rangel the AA population in Harlem is aging and or dying off. Others are retiring and moving out of state or the area. While gentrification is making inroads as well do not see that area tipping to a majority white or even substantial minority for a very long time if ever.

I would call Rangel a Latino, not a Hispanic.

I think Latino is better but use them pretty much interchangeably.
