its funny how conservatives are supposed to be all about "the family" but when it comes to helping working families it turns into a "liberal agenda". some great family values you got there.

^ Pro birth =/= pro life.

Having kids is for suckers in the modern, developed world.

Not familiar with how forum discussions work, huh? You make a claim, you back it up ... or you get called on your BS.

Simple.

Can't someone be pro-family yet also expect a little responsibility and self-reliance?

Don't you think that actually having a job IS responsible & self-reliant? That's what this whole topic is about, workplaces (meaning the place you go to work & collect a paycheck) providing daycare.

Apparently, all the abortion rights aren't having the desired effect.
Day care at work is a wonderful situation. As a teacher that taught at a campus that had a teacher kid day care, I can tell you how effective it was. The employees still have to pay for it, but it is much easier to work with and it cut down on employee absences. The kids and parents were very happy with this situation.

Some companies like BP offer sick kid care for their employees, so they miss work less. They cover the gap that a traditional day care can't fill. I think it's fantastic. Obviously they aren't liberal at all, but this works for their company.

Having a job is fine, but expecting others to pay for babysitting so that you can work is not a sign of self-reliance at all; it's dependence.

AMEN!

How much you wanna bet, though, that the OP won't have a clue what you're talking about?

I will say I agree that I don't believe it's the job of the federal government to mandate universal daycare for working parents. I'd rather it be at the state level via tax incentives or something to encourage the market to step in.

Who's expecting others to pay for babysitting?
