Conservatives don't vote against social programs that would benefit them. They're just voting against the OTHER people that get those benefits because they don't see them as being as deserving as they are. Republicans love pork and social programs just like everyone else.

I learned a long time ago not to listen to the average conservative when they prattle on about small government. They're just lying.

And people should vote for their own interests. That's not the same thing as congressmen putting their own interests ahead of the nation's.
